Among the newly qualified coaches is Katie Hines from Paignton Academy, who was presented with her certificate by Principal Derwyn Williams. This achievement marks a significant milestone, as TSAT now boasts more than 100 trained coaches supporting colleagues across a variety of roles.
Coaching has become a cornerstone of TSAT’s commitment to professional development, empowering staff to enhance their skills, share best practices, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
The BASIC Coaching programme is open to colleagues from all levels and areas within the Trust, including headteachers, classroom teachers, and office managers. This inclusivity ensures that the benefits of coaching are widely accessible, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement across TSAT schools and central teams.
Sophie Venables, Head of Thinking Horizons, who reviews and assesses all applications, expressed her admiration for the recent cohort, stating:
"I was hugely impressed by the quality of the submissions as they represent transformative work these coaches have undertaken to develop colleagues. I know coaches make a huge difference in our schools and central teams, and I'm delighted we have been able to support them on this journey."
The Trust provides full funding for the BASIC Coaching training, underscoring its commitment to fostering a supportive and growth-oriented workplace culture. Coaching within TSAT is self-led, and participants are supported throughout their journey by experienced colleagues who are already qualified.
Whether it’s refining teaching practices, enhancing leadership capabilities, or fostering effective teamwork, BASIC Coaches play a transformative role in strengthening the Trust’s mission of Transforming Life Chances.
