From wearing your true colours and taking pride in the little things that make us unique and beautiful, to learning about the long history of the LGBTQ+ community and how we can support and become allies to our peers.
As a Trust, we believe it's important to represent people from all walks of life, and our #WeAreOne events offer a brilliant opportunity to learn about a variety of cultures and interests, all while making a difference. Please take a moment to read through a roundup of the month's events, what's next, and a range of useful resources to support people in the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones.
We had another successful #WeAreOne day, which saw all 21 of our schools taking part in our colourful and reflective "Be You" event, where students and staff alike celebrated everything that makes them Beyoutiful! The Trust was full of colour, celebration and love for our friends, our colleagues, and most importantly, ourselves. It was wonderful to see so many embrace their differences and the traits that make us all unique. All money raised through this event was donated to 'Just Like Us', the LGBTQ+ charity for young people.
We have been fortunate to receive a lot of support for our actions towards LGBTQ+ History Month and were thrilled to welcome a message from Bobbi Pickard, the CEO of Trans in the City, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant at BP, and Stonewall's "Changemaker of the Year: 2022." In this video, Bobbi speaks openly about her journey and reflects on her experiences. "Days when they're bright are so, so much brighter than the days when they're dark. So stick around for those." We implore you to take 5 minutes and listen to Bobbi's Message.
Thank you to everyone who sent us photos of their school's vibrant display of food; it was a stunning end to our Friday.
