Our Wellbeing campaign continues and each term we focus on a different segment of the Wellbeing Wheel.
We’ll explore ways to Give and Care for friends, family, colleagues, people we don’t know and the planet; become more Active by finding new ways to exercise; Take Notice and focus on mindfulness; Keep Learning to better ourselves and Connect with our community to build long lasting relationships.
Each term there is a range of initiatives and activities that you can participate in to actively promote your own wellbeing.
Exercise isn’t just about keeping fit. Physical activity can help us to think and feel positively – we sleep better, have more energy and can use our time exercising to be present in the moment or connect with others. But, you don’t have to run a marathon to be active! Find the best form of physical activity that works for you and your other commitments.

Exercising makes you feel good. Discover a physical activity that you enjoy.
Whether it’s gaining a new skill or broadening your knowledge, the end results of learning can undoubtedly be positive. The act of learning in itself is valuable and has been shown to boost self-esteem, resilience, social integration and more. Set yourself a target and take time to savour the journey of learning something different.
Rediscover an old hobby or sign up for a course; there are lots of free courses you can access. Learn to play an instrument or how to cook something new. Learn a new language or set a challenge you will enjoy.
Feeling close to and valued by others is key to our happiness. Finding the time to nurture your friendships and family bonds can help you feel better and live better.
Connect with the people around you. With family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. At home, work, school or in your local community.

Being mindful of the moment – what’s happening, and how it makes us think and feel – can help us better understand ourselves. When we know how to do this, we can seek out the moments that we value most. Life moves fast – so hit pause and take a second to appreciate what’s going on, inside and outside.
Be curious. Catch sight of the beautiful. Remark on the unusual. Savour the moment. Be aware of the world around you and what you are feeling.
Look after your community and the world.
Make small changes to your life that will reduce your energy use, recycle more, leave the car at home, use low energy light bulbs, small steps to a greener life can make a difference.
Tips to be more eco-friendly:
Helping, giving, sharing – doing something for someone else has been proven to make us feel more positive and increase our self-worth. Big or small, actions to improve the lives of others, improves our own. So why not take time to do something kind?
Do something nice for a friend or stranger. Smile. Volunteer your time. See yourself, and your happiness, linked to the wider community it’s rewarding.
